Near the bank of the Mississippi River, between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, rises the majestic Houmas House Plantation and Gardens. This landmark of Louisiana plantation country was once one of the largest sugar producers in the country. Now it’s open for you to tour its grounds, dine in its award-winning restaurants, and stay at The Inn at Houmas House—a series of lavish cottages nestled between giant oaks.
Take the Great River Road to Darrow and enjoy docent-led tours of Houmas House Plantation, where your guide will be dressed in period costume to bring the stories of this grand place to life.
