Pain Perdu

Recipe by Peggy Hulin, owner of The Old Castillo Bed and Breakfast

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Slices of day old bread (not fresh)
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar, or to taste


Instructions:

  1. Mix liquid ingredients together thoroughly in a bowl.
  2. Quickly pass a slice of bread through mixture.
  3. Drop on hot grill for 1 minute then turn other side for 1 minute.
  4. Remove from grill.
  5. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve hot.
Servings: Makes 4 servings
